Microsampling and Microfluidic-Based Strategies for Cannabinoid Analysis in Blood

Laura Mercolini
2020

This presentation reviews microsampling and microfluidic strategies for cannabinoid analysis in blood. It highlights improved stability, room-temperature handling, lower contamination risk, reduced sample and solvent volumes, and simplified high-throughput analysis.

Volumetric Microsampling of Capillary Blood Spot vs Whole Blood Sampling for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Tacrolimus and Cyclosporin A: Accuracy and Patient Satisfaction

Mbughuni, M. M.; Stevens, M. A.; Langman, L. J.; Kudva, Y. C.; Sanchez, W.; Dean, P. G.; Jannetto, P. J.
J Appl Lab Med | 2020

This study examines volumetric microsampling of capillary blood spot vs whole blood sampling for therapeutic drug monitoring of tacrolimus and cyclosporin a: accuracy and patient satisfaction. Our results demonstrate good concordance between MSD+CB and VB for TaC and CsA TDM, but additional studies are warranted.

Tranexamic acid quantification in human whole blood using liquid samples or volumetric absorptive microsampling devices

Lamy, E.; Runge, I.; Roberts, I.; Shakur-Still, H.; Grassin-Delyle, S.
Bioanalysis | 2020

This study examines tranexamic acid quantification in human whole blood using liquid samples or volumetric absorptive microsampling devices. The stability of tranexamic acid in blood samples stored up to 1 month at +50 degrees C was demonstrated.

Therapeutic drug monitoring of anti-epileptic drugs - a clinical verification of volumetric absorptive micro sampling

Canisius, Tpijm; Soons, Jwph; Verschuure, P.; Wammes-van der Heijden, E. A.; Rouhl, R. P. W.; Majoie, H. J. M.
Clin Chem Lab Med | 2020

This study examines therapeutic drug monitoring of anti-epileptic drugs - a clinical verification of volumetric absorptive micro sampling. Conclusions VAMS enables an accurate detection of a wide variety of AEDs within 2 days after sampling.

SARS-Coronavirus-2 nucleocapsid protein measured in blood using a Simoa ultra-sensitive immunoassay differentiates COVID-19 infection with high clinical sensitivity

Dandan Shan, Joseph M Johnson, Syrena C. Fernandes, Muriel Mendes, Hannah Suib, Marcella Holdridge, Elaine M Burke, Katie Beauregard, Ying Zhang, Megan Cleary, Samantha Xu, Xiao Yao, Purvish Patel, Tatiana Plavina, David Wilson, Lei Chang, Kim M Kaiser, Jacob Natterman, Susanne V Schmidt, Eicke Latz, Kevin Hrusovsky, Dawn Mattoon, Andrew J. Ball
medRxiv | 2020

This study examines SARS-Coronavirus-2 nucleocapsid protein measured in blood using a simoa ultra-sensitive immunoassay differentiates COVID-19 infection with high clinical sensitivity.

Monitoring of Adalimumab Concentrations at Home in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Using Dried Blood Samples

Berends, S. E.; Bloem, K.; de Vries, A.; Schaap, T.; Rispens, T.; Strik, A. S.; Talwar, R.; Lowenberg, M.; D'Haens, G. R.; Mathot, R. A.
Ther Drug Monit | 2020

This study examines monitoring of adalimumab concentrations at home in patients with inflammatory bowel disease using dried blood samples. High correlations were found between ADL serum concentrations obtained through conventional venipuncture and DBSs, which indicates that this home-based test can facilitate therapeutic drug monitoring-based ADL dose adjustments in daily practice.

Kidney transplant recipient's perceptions of blood testing through microsampling and venepuncture

Scuderi, C. E.; Parker, S. L.; Jacks, M.; John, G.; McWhinney, B.; Ungerer, J.; Mallett, A.; Roberts, J. A.; Healy, H.; Staatz, C. E.
Bioanalysis | 2020

This study examines kidney transplant recipient's perceptions of blood testing through microsampling and venepuncture. To quantify time burden of providing venous samples a total of 44% (n = 17) spent greater than 1 hour to travel and provide venous samples.

Hydroxyurea Optimization through Precision Study (HOPS): study protocol for a randomized, multicenter trial in children with sickle cell anemia

Meier, E. R.; Creary, S. E.; Heeney, M. M.; Dong, M.; Appiah-Kubi, A. O.; Nelson, S. C.; Niss, O.; Piccone, C.; Quarmyne, M. O.; Quinn, C. T.; Saving, K. L.; Scott, J. P.; Talati, R.; Latham, T. S.; Pfeiffer, A.; Shook, L. M.; Vinks, A. A.; Lane, A.; McGann, P. T.
Trials | 2020

This study examines hydroxyurea optimization through precision study (HOPS), with a focus on study protocol for a randomized, multicenter trial in children with sickle cell anemia. Results from a single-center trial of individualized, PK-guided dosing of hydroxyurea for children with SCD suggest that individualized dosing achieves the optimal dose more rapidly and provides superior clinical and laboratory benefits than traditional dosing strategies.

Giving patients choices: AstraZeneca's evolving approach to patient-centric sampling

Bailey, C.; Arfvidsson, C.; Woodford, L.; Kock, M.
Bioanalysis | 2020

This study examines giving patients choices, with a focus on AstraZeneca's evolving approach to patient-centric sampling.

Can dried blood spots (DBS) contribute to conducting comprehensive SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests?

Thevis, M.; Knoop, A.; Schaefer, M. S.; Dufaux, B.; Schrader, Y.; Thomas, A.; Geyer, H.
Drug Test Anal | 2020

This study examines can dried blood spots (DBS) contribute to conducting comprehensive SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests. DBS facilitate the collection and processing of significant numbers of test samples, supporting the generation of data critical to developing and applying epidemiological models on the presumably undetected spread of infections.
