Comparison of self-sampling blood collection for N-glycosylation analysis

Cvetko, A.; Tijardovic, M.; Bilandzija-Kus, I.; Gornik, O.
BMC Res Notes | 2022

This study compared self-collected capillary blood devices with plasma for N-glycosylation analysis. Volumetric and plasma-separation formats showed better comparability and repeatability than conventional DBS, supporting further validation in larger cohorts.

Evaluation of hemaPEN((R)) sampling device for measurement of cocaine and metabolites in capillary blood by LC-MS/MS

Smidt, M.; Bastiani, M. F.; Hahn, R. Z.; Lima Feltraco Lizot, L.; Perassolo, M. S.; Linden, R.
Bioanalysis | 2022

This study developed and validated an LC-MS/MS method for cocaine and its metabolites in capillary blood collected with hemaPEN. The device produced fixed-volume samples with acceptable performance and seven-day analyte stability.

A whole blood microsampling furosemide assay: development, validation and use in a pediatric pharmacokinetic study

Bamat, N. A.; Vedar, C.; Reilly, M. E.; Moorthy, G. S.; Zuppa, A. F.
Bioanalysis | 2022

This study developed and validated an LC-MS/MS assay for furosemide in 10 µL VAMS whole-blood samples. The method is being used to support pharmacokinetic research in a prospective pediatric clinical study.

Quantitation of methotrexate polyglutamates in human whole blood, erythrocytes and leukocytes collected via venepuncture and volumetric absorptive micro-sampling: a green LC-MS/MS-based method

Daraghmeh, D. N.; Moghaddami, M.; Bobrovskaya, L.; Proudman, S. M.; Wiese, M. D.
Anal Bioanal Chem | 2022

This study developed a green LC-MS/MS method to quantify methotrexate polyglutamates across whole blood and separated blood-cell matrices collected by venipuncture or VAMS. The assay achieved acceptable accuracy and precision while improving analyte coverage and reducing environmental impact.

Smidt Heart Institute Takotsubo Registry - Study design and baseline characteristics

Obrutu, O.; Maughan, J.; Tjoe, B.; Herscovici, R.; Moy, P.; Rojas, N.; Wei, J.; Shufelt, C.; Rutledge, T.; Merz, C. N. B.
Am Heart J Plus | 2022

This article describes the design and baseline characteristics of the Smidt Heart Institute Takotsubo Registry. The registry provides a deeply phenotyped participant cohort to investigate disease mechanisms, identify treatment targets, and support future trials.

Set-up of a population-based model to verify alcohol abstinence via monitoring of the direct alcohol marker phosphatidylethanol 16:0/18:1

Van Uytfanghe, K.; Heughebaert, L.; Abatih, E.; Stove, C. P.
Addiction | 2022

This study developed a population-based model using serial PEth measurements to assess alcohol abstinence. A two-step decision tree verified abstinence even above the standard decision limit, with reported sensitivity and specificity of 89%.

UHPLC-HRMS Method for the Simultaneous Screening of 235 Drugs in Capillary Blood for Doping Control Purpose: Comparative Evaluation of Volumetric and Non-volumetric Dried Blood Spotting Devices

Mazzarino, M.; Di Costanzo, L.; Comunita, F.; Stacchini, C.; de la Torre, X.; Botre, F.
ACS Omega | 2022

This study developed a UHPLC-HRMS workflow to screen 235 drugs in capillary blood and compared seven dried-blood microsampling devices. The validated method was fit for doping-control use and provided data complementary to urine testing.

An eight-plex immunoassay for Group A streptococcus serology and vaccine development

Whitcombe, A. L.; Han, F.; McAlister, S. M.; Kirkham, L. S.; Young, P. G.; Ritchie, S. R.; Atatoa Carr, P.; Proft, T.; Moreland, N. J.
J Immunol Methods | 2022

This study developed an eight-plex immunoassay for measuring Group A Streptococcus antibody responses from small-volume samples. The assay supports serology and vaccine research, including feasibility with dried blood samples.

Automation of tacrolimus measurement on volumetric absorptive microsampling devices by tandem mass spectrometry

Carling, R. S.; John, C.; Emmett, E. C.; Austin, D.; Hastie, C.; Liscio, C.
Bioanalysis | 2022

This study evaluated an automated workflow for measuring tacrolimus from VAMS devices using tandem mass spectrometry. The approach supports higher-throughput therapeutic drug monitoring from microsampled blood.

Evaluation of volumetric blood collection devices for the measurement of phenylalanine and tyrosine to monitor patients with phenylketonuria

Carling, R. S.; Emmett, E. C.; Moat, S. J.
Clin Chim Acta | 2022

This study compared volumetric blood collection devices with conventional DBS cards for monitoring phenylalanine and tyrosine in phenylketonuria. Volumetric devices reduced several pre-analytical limitations, although device-specific biases remained important.
