Spotlight on Endocannabinoids in Healthy Individuals Using Volumetric Absorptive Microsampling Combined with LC-MS/MS Analysis

Haroune, L.; Saibi, S.; Bellenger, J. P.; Vincenot, M.; Leonard, G.; Gendron, L.; Sarret, P.
ACS Omega | 2025

This study developed and validated an LC-MS/MS method for measuring endocannabinoids using VAMS blood samples. Findings highlight VAMS as a useful approach for clinical endocannabinoid research while emphasizing the need to standardize drying and sampling conditions.

Volumetric Absorptive Microsampling of Saliva for Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of Mycophenolic Acid and Its Glucuronide Metabolite in Pediatric Renal Transplant Recipients: Bioanalytical Method Validation and Clinical Feasibility Evaluation

Kocur, A.; Sobiak, J.; Czajkowska, A.; Rubik, J.; Pawinski, T.
Pharmaceuticals (Basel) | 2025

This study assessed saliva and capillary blood microsampling for monitoring mycophenolic acid in pediatric renal transplant recipients. Dried saliva was not a reliable substitute for plasma, but capillary blood VAMS remained a promising option for long-term monitoring.

Volumetric absorptive microsampling for lumateperone analysis: method validation and stability evaluation

Milandri, E.; Di Lecce, R.; Iattoni, C. P.; Armirotti, A.; Vovk, T.; Mandrioli, R.; Protti, M.; Mercolini, L.
Anal Bioanal Chem | 2025

This method validation study developed a VAMS-based HPLC-MS/MS approach for analyzing lumateperone in capillary blood microsamples. Results indicate dried microsamples can support future therapeutic drug monitoring applications for patients treated with lumateperone.

Volumetric absorptive microsampling for iohexol and creatinine based GFR determination in cats: Aligning animal welfare with practical feasibility

Ghent University
2024

This presentation examines volumetric absorptive microsampling for iohexol and creatinine based GFR determination in cats, with a focus on aligning animal welfare with practical feasibility. Consequently, we demonstrated that ear-prick sampling using VAMS is a suitable alternative to conventional venous sampling to determine iohexol and creatinine for GFR determination in cats.

Utilisation of VAMS to reduce sample volumes in pre-clinical toxicological studies in drug discovery

AstraZeneca
2024

This preclinical study evaluated VAMS devices for toxicokinetic measurement of antibody-drug conjugates. Results supported room-temperature stability and the potential to reduce animal use, dry-ice shipping, and the associated carbon footprint.

Phishing vulnerability compounded by older age, apolipoprotein E e4 genotype, and lower cognition

Pehlivanoglu, D.; Shoenfelt, A.; Hakim, Z.; Heemskerk, A.; Zhen, J.; Mosqueda, M.; Wilson, R. C.; Huentelman, M.; Grilli, M. D.; Turner, G.; Spreng, R. N.; Ebner, N. C.
PNAS Nexus | 2024

This study examines how age, APOE ε4 genotype, and cognitive performance relate to phishing vulnerability. Microsampling was used within the research workflow to support participant-centered biological sample collection.

Near-infrared-based hematocrit determination of dried blood samples collected by volumetric absorptive microsampling: An in-depth evaluation

Heughebaert, Liesl; Boffel, Laura; Lühr, Christoph; Lambrecht, Stijn; Stove, Christophe P.
Microchemical Journal | 2024

This study examines near-infrared-based hematocrit determination of dried blood samples collected by volumetric absorptive microsampling: an in-depth evaluation. Sample storage (up till one month at room temperature or lower), operator and lot of VAMS devices did not impact the resulting Hct, confirming the method’s robustness.

A Validated Assay to Quantify Osimertinib and Its Metabolites, AZ5104 and AZ7550, from Microsampled Dried Blood Spots and Plasma

Venkatesh, B.; Yuile, A.; McKay, M. J.; Narayanan, S.; Wheeler, H.; Itchins, M.; Pavlakis, N.; Clarke, S. J.; Molloy, M. P.
Ther Drug Monit | 2024

This study examines a validated assay to quantify osimertinib and its metabolites, AZ5104 and AZ7550, from microsampled dried blood spots and plasma. The Bland-Altman method showed high concordance between plasma and DBS analyte levels.

Clinical validation of two volumetric absorptive microsampling devices to support home-based therapeutic drug monitoring of immunosuppression

Leino, A. D.; Takyi-Williams, J.; Park, J. M.; Norman, S. P.; Sun, D.; Farris, K. B.; Pai, M. P.
Br J Clin Pharmacol | 2024

This clinical study compared the Tasso-M20 and Mitra VAMS devices for home-based monitoring of tacrolimus and mycophenolic acid in kidney transplant recipients. Both devices showed similar analytical performance.

A Practitioner’s Guide to PFAS Testing

Eurofins
2024

This guide explains PFAS blood testing recommendations and describes a finger-prick self-collection test that measures more than 45 PFAS. It also discusses serum-equivalent comparisons with national CDC reference data.
