AusMedtech 2016 will next week attract more than 300 medical technology developers and professionals to Adelaide - to advance one of Australia’s fastest growing and evolving sectors.
The ninth annual AusMedtech national conference, to advance Australia’s medtech sector (devices and diagnostics), will be officially opened by the Hon Kyam Maher MLC, Minister for Manufacturing and Innovation for the Government of South Australia and will feature a working lunch with the Hon Jack Snelling MP, Minister for Health, Minister for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Minister for the Arts and Minister for Health Industries to discuss: Delivering medtech growth in South Australia.
Australia’s medtech sector has advanced vigorously in recent years, propelled by research developments and innovations in the biomedical sphere. Australia now has an established community of companies, estimated to be more than 1,000, - mostly start-up – operating within Australia’s medtech industry.
The two-day AusMedtech conference will highlight this fast-moving industry and feature many leading international and local speakers.
CEO and Director of Trajan Scientific and Medical Stephen Tomisich, drawing on his extensive leadership and partnership development experience, will discuss how sustainable scientific and medical device companies are built in Australia. Mr Tomisich has forged collaborations with industry, academic and government throughout his career, and as a consequence, has delivered lasting outcomes to both the scientific and wider community.
Additional topics AusMedtech will cover include supporting local developers achieve global success; advances in digital health; capital raising; government initiatives and Australian’s start-ups.
AusMedtech’s networking events and additional activities will complement these key themes:
- Meet researchers who deliver innovative solutions to medical and allied health sectors during a tour of Flinders University’s Medical Device Research Institute, Tonsley;
- Discover how South Australia is leveraging its research excellence, entrepreneurial culture and creative government initiatives to deliver medtech growth at the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) Business Breakfast;
