Neoteryx announces an automation solution for Mitra Microsampling technology

Torrance, CA (March 7, 2017) – Neoteryx LLC announced today that a new automation solution is available for its revolutionary Mitra® Microsampling technology.

The benefits of the Mitra device, based on Volumetric Absorptive Microsampling (VAMS™) technology, are now available for pharmaceutical companies, CROs, hospitals, and large and growing labs preparing for the future. Advantages include accurate and reliable collection of 10 or 20 µL of blood (or other biological fluid) in seconds, along with the elimination of the volumetric hematocrit bias typically associated with the dried blood spotting technique.

autoMitra™ workflow powered by INTEGRA VIAFLO® 96 facilitates the processing of hundreds or thousands of samples per day and fits on a typical workbench. This semi-automatable solution is designed to accommodate high-throughput labs. It is easy to implement, can be mastered in one day, and provides a convenient and economical alternative to complex and cumbersome DBS card automation.

“An autoMitra workflow is a practical solution for labs that want to take advantage of microsampling technology with greater throughput than was possible before,” says Kim Chansky, Senior Strategic Partnership and Product Manager. “It helps process high volumes of samples with reduced turnarounds while minimizing errors, costs, and labor.”

The autoMitra workflow powered INTEGRA VIAFLO 96 is a practical next step for labs that have hit the limits of what they can accomplish with eight-channel pipettes. It significantly reduces the risk of sample processing errors and repetitive strain injury. The autoMitra workflow can make any lab quicker and more efficient, creating room for growth and freeing up resources for work that matters.

And unlike expensive and complicated liquid handlers, the autoMitra workflow powered by INTEGRA VIAFLO 96 allows ad hoc processing, reduced downtime for service calls, and operation by almost anyone, with no special training or expertise required.

autoMitra workflow powered by INTEGRA VIAFLO 96 joins the growing Neoteryx portfolio of Mitra Microsampling products.

The CE/IVD and FDA Class 1 listed 20 µL Mitra Microsampling Device, which is currently available in four formats, is suitable for biological sample collection in the pharmaceutical, clinical, and research environments. The 96-rack and 96-autorack are recommended for method development and semi-automated / automated sample extraction processing. The clamshell format, available with two, three, or four microsamplers, is an economical option for direct patient sampling whereas the cartridge format is a more elegant solution for direct-patient and at-home sampling, as it includes barcodes for managing chain-of-custody as well as a re-sealable bag and desiccant for shipping samples to the lab.

###

The Mitra device is for direct specimen collection of blood and other biological fluids. It is not specific to any clinical test, and is not for use in diagnostic procedures. Use of the Mitra Microsampler in Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) requires further processing including the establishment of performance characteristics and successful validation by the laboratory in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements.
